Identity in Christ
"We are dealing with the almost unknown fact of our Identification with Christ. At once you ask, 'What does Identification mean?' It means our complete union with Him in His Substitutionary Sacrifice. For instance, this term is used: 'I have been crucified with Christ.' This is our Identification with Christ in His Crucifixion." - E.W. Kenyon
The Word of God teaches us that we as believers are to identify with Christ Jesus our Savior. Jesus Christ did what we couldn't do in our sinful state of humanity so we could be redeemed and returned to God Our Father and live in His Grace and Mercy. Galatians 2:19-20 says "For I through the law died to the law that I might live to God. I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me." When Jesus Christ died, we died with Him. When Jesus was made alive by the Holy Spirit and resurrected, we too were made alive with our Savior (Ephesians 2: 4-6). We are raised with Jesus Christ and have been made to sit with Jesus Christ in the Kingdom of Heaven.
In understanding our identity in Jesus Christ, we must constantly and consistently use the word "with" in regards to who we are in Jesus. For we died with Jesus, we were buried with Jesus, we were made alive with Jesus, and now we are seated with Jesus. Never allow the lies of the enemy to chip away at this fundamental cornerstone of your redemption, that Jesus and the believer are one and in complete heavenly union.
